You dont listen to warnings that another sect has defected to the demonic side and then you send the low ranking and low level cultivators to the frontline to stall the demonic sects when they overrun it as canon fodder, gee, I wonder why did Han Li decided to leave Yellow Maple sect?

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

I love how they portray Han Li here. He's no saint but he's so real and genuine, truly a protagonist whom the viewers can root for and relate to. This is a phenomenal adaptation of the novel. Kudos to the production team, especially the scriptwriters!

Dase • 1 year ago

Definitely, the studio did a great job adapting the novel, not just the graphics but also the story changes, unlike.... Soul Land.... pffft lol

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

Soul Land! lol!! If there's any flaw, it's probably TJSS's. 😉
But this is where we can see what a great job Fanren's Studio has done because the novel is really tedious and boring, yet they managed to make a masterpiece out of it.

Dase • 1 year ago

Defintely lol, I had to skip chapters just to read when he meets up with Nangong Wan or the other romantic interest and I almost threw my laptop onto the floor when I read the ending I hate novels that ends with the main character leaving by themselves and going off somewhere without their romantic interest

Thankfully the author wrote an additional novel that corrects it

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

So have you read the redress sequel? Do tell me if it's worth reading.

You lasted so much longer than me. lol! I'm glad I gave up much earlier. Now, I'd rather stalk the fans' comments section on Bilibili site just to read spoilers, than reading the novel.

I got so frustrated reading about Han Li running away, saving his a## every damn time.🙄 No doubt, he owes his success to his cautiousness. But I can't stand this kind of protagonist.

This is why I prefer the donghua Han Li! Truly one of the best donghua adaptations (so far). I guess, you'll never hear the end of it from me. lol

Dase • 1 year ago

It's the same kind of pacing and style as the first one, but at least it's got a happy ending :)

Nangong Wan ends up with Han Li, and it is implied, as they watch over a little girl practicing chasing after puppies and kittens, around them, that they have a daughter

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

Thanks! I’ll check it out. Can you pls give me the link for the raw files?

My interest in the novel is slowly coming back. Just watched lots of reviews of Fanren on YT. I found out the Chinese fans usually call Han Li by his nicknames. After translating, I literally lmao: Han Laomo (Old Devil Han) and Han Paopao (Run run Han?) 🤣

So apart from Fanren, which other donghua would you put in your top 3 favourite list?

I started watching a new donghua (Word of Honor) on bilibili but after I found out that it’s by Zhou Munan (the author of Shao Nian Ge Xing), I immediately lost interest. He’s a mediocre writer at best.

Dase • 1 year ago

I read on Qidian, but you can go here https :/ / www .xbiquge .so /book /26182 /

Oh and it wasnt that their daughter was practicing martial arts, she was chasing puppies and kittens around Han Li and Nangong Wan lol, well implied daughter anyway since there were no other young children around and Han Li was gazing at her

My three would be Doupo Cangqiong, Juan Siliang and Soul Land, excluding Fanren. Swallowed Star comes close, but only because of Xu Xin :P How about yourself?

Ahh him, surprisingly his live action adaptations is very well received lol then again any implied BL or lot's of men in a drama will get a lot of viewers and rave reviews that doesnt have anything to do with the drama, a friend of mine got banned from mydramalist after he call out the reviewers of having their loins wet and brainless for their reviews lol

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

My top 3: Fanren, Soul Land, Legend of Exorcism.

I've yet to start Doupo. Is this the same as Fight Break Sphere? I saw it on WeTV but when I googled Doupo, it gives me Battle through the Heavens.

Actually, I'm surprised you like Juan Siliang. Though I cannot deny that the animation quality is top notch, I'd even say, it's better than Fanren and it's probably THE best Chinese donghua as yet in terms of production quality, graphics and animation. But the producer seriously need to drop her multi-taking roles. Most of all, she can't script-write. I read a lot about her on Weibo. She's really the Jane of all trades — apparently she's the original author, the director, the scriptwriter and even the lyricist on top of her producer role.

Honestly, I wanted to like it so desperately because of the amount of effort they put in and the excellent PVs but the story just drags. I have no doubt that it could be a very interesting and compelling story but Season 1 is really disappointing. I thought I was being overly critical until I read tons of (harsh) comments on Weibo and Douban. Majority of the critics talked about how unnecessarily drawn out the plot is and that they only rely on their beautiful character designs. Comments like "it's another tea-drinking episode.." are all over weibo. lol

Two of my pet peeves are:
- The main couple didn't even "know" each other until the very last episode. I'm not a big fan of a one-sided love story.
- The MC plays a rather passive role in staying hidden for far too long. The producer should have let the MC make his public appearance earlier to spice up the story. Instead she gave us lots of tea-drinking scenes and close-up shots.

Nevertheless, I like the whodunnit element where anyone can be a suspect. I hope the suspense will be enough to retain the anticipation of the viewers for a season 2. But in their defence, I read that they had initially planned for 20+ episodes and were forced to cut them back due to budget constraint. That might explain their lack of plot and character development in S1. But I'll definitely wait for Season 2 before giving my final verdict.

Dase • 1 year ago

Yes it is the same donghua, the novel is rather good :) I prefer Heavenly Silkworm Potato's work over TJSS lol

Ahh yes, Juan Siliang isnt out on novel, it was a straight donghua production, unless the novel sneaked in and I couldnt find it lol
To be fair most weibo users just like fast actions lol, Fanren donghua manages to get away with a boring story mainly cause of the fight scenes lol and if you add fanservices like in Japanese anime, well then you will get a lot more viewers :)

True, the main character should have "met" the female lead a lot earlier, but he was hiding and protecting her as Elder He I guess the original work author was trying to establish the background and foundation of the characters, it was funny to see that she didnt know who he was and kept helping the humans and he got jealous and annoyed with her for not listening to him lol. I would have just killed the little marquis and be done with it.

I tend to hate movies and novels that are like that, a perfectly good balanced world with some flaws, and along comes someone and brings their own morality or beliefs and wrecks the world in their wake, normally we just shrug it off if it was the main character that does it, and think yup that is fine, he is the main character lol It's kind of like Johnny Depp's movie "Waiting for the Barbarians", comes in and creates a mess of things lol

I didnt know that, the number of episodes seem odd, and no doubt the number of episodes were cut due to budget consideration as you mentioned, since they are streaming donghuas and not broadcasting, most donghua dont have any limits on the number of episodes, if they can produce 100 episodes at XX dollars the publishing company like Tencent would be very happy lol

I hope the second season would start soon, and maybe pick up the pace a little, and for goodness sake dont let the ending be a tragedy

Winteriscoming • 1 year ago

Oh you mean the ending of Heavenly' Realm? Han Li gave up Supreme Tao Ancestor/Power beyond Omnipresent, omniscience and Omnipotent (Ironically lessen power but infinitely extended his potential) and lived with Nangong wan and kid, then sensed the reincarnation of his friend Li Feiyu finally become a Cultivator and ascended to Heavenly Realm.

Dase • 1 year ago

Yes, that one, in which he left his friend to reincarnate/spoiler>

Winteriscoming • 1 year ago

Not surprising because the Chief Animator grew up reading Fanren Novel, the Director, Produce and half of the entire studio are hardcore Fanren chinese fans while the other half, though not hardcore, are also fans. Their understanding of Mortal's Journey to Immortality is very high plus they have access to what most of you guys out here doesn't have:

Interviews and sometimes ability to speak directly to the author to get even more insights into what he was trying to portray.

ArchAngel • 1 year ago

Han Li is good MC :)

Yea I could see why he left now, nothing but turncoats and traitors its not her fault her sect master just full of BS. Also I want to be reincarnated in this universe solely purpose cause we get to fly like superman XD.

Dase • 1 year ago

At least he will bump into his waifu later on :)

lol some cultivation worlds allow that, but dont you want to fly on a mount? Like a dragon, phoenix, tiger? lol

you know what I think this is messed up kinda I think they should just put it in 1 season this is to confusing to all of us...

Zeta • 1 year ago

MF when people are talking about Han Li and you come in with some random episode schedule that no one asked for. Are you in a habit of doing this? Or you just like the attention of showing off the anime's schedule?

Clawzes • 1 year ago

I'm assuming you want attention since you replied to comment, I didn't ask for anybody to reply, everybody would just read my comment and not reply I'm fine with that but for you to reply to me it's like you want attention not me since my bio says it all.

Clawzes • 1 year ago

This is a wholesome community not this 1 person saying the word attention because that's just rude, then they'll start saying a lot of things to you, so if you don't want a bunch of replies to your attention reply then do not reply to the person who does not want attention all that person wants is everybody scrolling to read it nothing else.

Clawzes • 1 year ago

If you read my BIO it says this:

About

I provide 100% accurate information about release dates on episodes, release dates release earlier in Japan so if my info is wrong it's because it was release on Japan TV a few days earlier

Clawzes • 1 year ago

If you do not want an argument to start do not say this person wants attention, because that be on you adding fuel to the fire.

Clawzes • 1 year ago

Read my Bio before you reply to me...

Aerlis Ambrosius • 1 year ago

True that, but as you know the biggest betrayal of this sect leader has yet to happen.

Winteriscoming • 1 year ago

Actually the 'leader' shouldn't be faulted to ignore the warnings. Also he didn't really ignore the warnings, but rather the other Sect's reinforcements just arrived and coincidentally a low priority Disciple came with information that their allies have defected.

(The Sect has not treated him well and it knows, therefore, in the higher ranking members' eyes, Han Li shouldn't have much loyalty to them)

While they do not think Han Li might've defected, they have to take into consideration that the Demonic Side allowed Han Li to obtain this information to create confusion.

What they did wrong is accumulative and also later, Han Li has another Sect to compare.

Remember, Han Li joined the "CENSORED" Sect with practically same conditions as he did Yellow Maple Valley.

Han Li didn't need special pass to join, he was given a chance to prove his worth, which he did and "CENSORED" Sect people accepted him, gave him basically same type of job, but most significant is they didn't dump a skill on him and forget he existed. The 'Senior Sister' actually bothered offered to help him if he has any questions about Cultivation even when she was troubled.

People in the "CENSORED" Sect were said to be a lot nicer in general. Compared to Yellow Maple Valley, the Sect Master just "Do you want to come back?" (SLAP YOUR FACE with a stack of cash) "I'll give you high position, see?" (SLAP YOUR FACE WITH A BAG OF COINS and this time, it fucking hurts)

I overexaggerated, but you can probably see why Han Li looks at "CENSORED" then looks at Yellow Maple and went "Nope, I'm staying with "Censored"

Dase • 1 year ago

Yup what you wrote is correct, but I am looking it from Han Li's point of view as to why he left There were many factors as to why and yes the sect master or leader of Yellow Maple Sect cant decide for all of the other sects, and yes Han Li's status is low and they didnt take him as serious as they should so the way the sects does things, and the structure of the sects (hierarchy, nepotism, status discrimination and others) played an important part of what Han Li did

He just preferred to be left alone in Drifting Cloud Sect and do as he pleases without being treated the way he was in Yellow Maple Sect, and they were more helpful than Yellow Maple, in that they did not require Han Li to do tasks with very little gain, and Han Li didnt fear whatever treasures he obtained would be taken away from him

You can use the spoiler tag instead of typing CENSORED :)
Either highlight the words and then click on the "crossed out eye" symbol below (third symbol to the right) or use this without the space whatever you type much easier :)

Winteriscoming • 1 year ago

It is not as if I don't know how to use it I just think with the risk of people who wanted to avoid spoilers may accidentally move their cursor over that I find it pointless. Personal preference if you may.

I included everyone's perspective.

When Han Li made the decision not to return to Yellow Maple, he admits that he wasn't mad anymore since it's been a long time already. Or else he wouldn't have promised the Yellow Maple Sect Master to help the Sect 3 times after the Sect Master passed away

The 'Sect Master' perspective is that the information Han Li brought back is too serious and too timely they have consider if it might be a Demonic Sect's scheme to spread confusion.

In the future, Han Li's perspective and rationale not to return to Yellow Maple is multi-facet.

Not being valued is too small of a matter. Han Li accepts that it is due to him being weak.

Betrayal, he was mad for a while, but 100 years is too long for him to hold a grudge. In fact, Han Li sorta moved on within a few years in the Sea of Outbreaking Stars... Haha! Take that! A different translation for the same thing! Mwuahahahahahahahaha! (Surrounds self with evil dark aura and tries to towers over Dase for fun)

In the end, when Yellow Maple went to look for him, Han Li rejected the offer not out of any emotions but rather like looking at two lists of offers and choose the other list.

Dase • 1 year ago

lol I get that, I was like that before, until people told me that it is the responsibility of the reader not the person writing the spoiler and usually if it is a big spoiler or one that might affect the viewer's decision to continue to watch the donghua or not I usually write BIG SPOILER AHEAD!! like when Xiao Yan rapes Medusaand I split the spoilers up so people <spoiiler> should know to stop lol

lol I dont mind different translations, since it is a word in Chinese can have multiple translations, what annoys me is when translators writes the name in the incorrect form, like Nangong Wan as Nan Gong Wan, worse is Nan Gongwan, should be surname then givennames together, I think it stems from mydramalist where they break down each letter separately, it is like writing Naruto as Na Ru To *shake my head*

Winteriscoming • 1 year ago

Oh you don't mind Chaotic sea of stars? Well, if the studio doesn't drag the story like ahem! Battle Through Heavens Season 4... my guess is Han Li will settle down in Rioting Star Ocean, maybe even Form his Core.

Dase • 1 year ago

It will take a few years to the end of the first novel lol but the studio is doing a good job of making the pacing a lot better than what is in the novel

Consider Douluo Daluo is almost 4 years now, I can see Doupo Cangqiong taking just as long lol. season 5 is going to be... a little boring when not much happens except for the ranking competition and I doubt it will go as far as him refining another Heavenly Flame/Foreign Flame and raping Medusa

Winteriscoming • 1 year ago

If can work the other way round, looking at Three Years' agreement. Donghua is not like anime that has a fixed duration. Their lengths can change according to need.
The 1st two Specials were only a few episodes, TYA is a short season length of 13 episodes

Dase • 1 year ago

Yeah, it depends on what the cut out and what they want to put into the special or seasons to make the story work I guess

Sister Dase, is this season 3 or Side story or still Season 2?

Dase • 1 year ago

New season, or should I say new arc, season 1, if you check the last arc Mo Dao Zheng Feng, it is split into three seasons. So it is better to call them arcs, since with new arc the title is Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan : (whatever arc title)

So this episode is episode 49 of the entire Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan; Zai Bie Tinnana Arc; Season 1

From what it looks like Fanren does it differently to other donghuas

Winteriscoming • 1 year ago

It's the translator who made this so complicated. Officially, Fanren is on episode 50

Kachi • 1 year ago

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

Ikr, the score is just amazing and not to mention the meaningful line: "Sadly, many people fear and revere me in this world, yet only these two people respect and love me". Never thought I would find raw emotions being done so poignantly in an anime/donghua. 🙇‍♂️
